CAPTAIN, Vangelis Karapanos from Greece, Age 57
Also known as Baloo, Vangelis was born in the town of Piraeus in Athens. He holds a License Hellenic Merchant Maritime (Skipper A ‘Class) and has worked on various Sailing Yachts around the world.
Captain Vangelis has vast knowledge of the Eastern Mediterranean and knows the waters very well. He has also undertaken an Atlantic crossing from Spain to Miami and he has extensive experience in racing sail at offshore and Olympic Class boats since a very young age, winning medals in various classes.
In his spare time, Captain Baloo enjoys relaxing with his Wife and two Children.

CHIEF ENGINEER, George Sinos from Greece, Age 38
George holds his Chief Engineer Unlimited License, a speed boat license, and numerous certificates such as SSO, Ro-Ro passenger, Advanced firefighting, LNG firefighting, High Voltage at ABS etc.
George started his career in 2005 at bulk and LNG carriers entered the yachting industry in 2015 and he has worked on various yachts. He joined S/Y Baracuda in 2023. George with his vast experience is a valuable member of the team ensuring efficient and safe operations. He speaks English and loves all water sports.

CHIEF OFFICER, George Argyros from Greece, Age 37
George is an avid sailor with a true passion for the sea. From a young age he has been involved in club racing around the waters of Greece. His love and knowledge for boats and the sea alike has fortunately enabled him to pursue a career in the Yachting industry. George is a sociable character and enjoys the interaction yachting provides with both crew and guests.
When George is not getting his feet wet you can find him playing the blues, or taking long road trips on his Motorbike.


DECKHAND, Raemon Devlin from Ireland, Age 47
Looking to tick off his workplace bucket list, Raemon joined S/Y Baracuda in 2015 as a very valuable crew member, to fulfill his passion for boats and the sea. Carpenter by trade, this nomad has worked around the world in various jobs and careers, making friends along the way. His heart placed him in Greece, where he is content spending time with his wife and bringing up his family. As a singer, song writer by hobby, you can find Raemon jamming with his band in venues around Athens.


DECKHAND, John Soukoulis from Greece, Age 26
John is passionate with the sea and has an experience in the yachting industry. He has offered his services on various motor and sailing yachts such as S/Y Nomad 2, S/Y Plan B, M/Y Benik and M/Y Angalia before joining Baracuda in 2025. He is a hardworking and dedicated crew member with excellent teamwork skills. He speaks English.

CHEF, Yiannis Diakoumopoulos from Greece, Age 30
Yiannis was born in Athens and he is a graduate of Le Monde Culinary Institute.
He gained valuable experience after working in luxury restaurants and being a private chef.
Yiannis is very creative with extensive knowledge of Mediterranean and international cuisines, and he loves preparing delicious dishes with fresh local ingredients.
He is capable of using advanced culinary techniques and he is up to date with the latest trends in gastronomy.
He has also studied Oenology so he has excellent food and wine pairing skills.
Yiannis speaks English and he enjoys reading, travelling and watching movies.

Chief Stew Tania Papathanasiou – Age 47
Born and raised in the picturesque seaside town of Nafpaktos, Tania has been immersed in the yachting industry since 1997. With a background in offshore sailing races across the Aegean and Mediterranean seas, she brings both expertise and passion to life on board. Since 2015, Tania has been dedicated to the world of charter yachts, where she now serves as Chief Stewardess. Her attention to detail, commitment to excellence, and warm hospitality ensure that every guest enjoys a five-star experience. A natural leader with an adventurous spirit, she fosters a seamless, welcoming, and luxurious atmosphere on board. In her free time, Tania enjoys travelling, sailing and spending quality time with her family.

Born in Athens in 1992, Natalia is a highly motivated individual with a naturally positive and optimistic attitude. With a background in luxury fashion client management, she brings exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and a deep understanding of high-end hospitality to the yachting industry. Dedicated to delivering top-tier service, Natalia ensures that every guest enjoys an unforgettable experience on board. Her strong work ethic, seamless communication, and teamwork skills allow her to anticipate and fulfill guests’ needs effortlessly, even in fast-paced environments. Born in 1997 and raised in Athens, Zorzeta holds a degree in Theatre Studies. From a young age, she has been drawn to the open sea, developing a deep passion for maritime life. Known for her hospitality, kindness, and strong teamwork skills, she ensures that every guest enjoys an unforgettable experience on board. With a warm and welcoming personality, Zorzeta creates a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere, making each journey special. When she’s not at sea, she loves traveling, practicing Pilates, and spending quality time with her family.

Questions & Answers

How does the charter contract work?

The contract is signed directly between the Owner and the Charterer, with the support of the broker. It is usually based on the international MYBA contract model, designed to ensure clear and balanced protection for both parties.
There is also the figure of the Stakeholder, responsible for safely holding the funds until the end of the charter.

What is included in the charter fee?

The base rate includes the rental of the yacht, the use of all onboard equipment, the presence of the crew, and the related insurance coverage.
Operational expenses such as fuel, provisioning, marina fees, beverages, and additional activities are not included and are managed through the APA (Advance Provisioning Allowance).

The exact list of what is included or excluded will be confirmed when selecting the yacht.

What is the APA and how does it work?

The APA (Advance Provisioning Allowance) is an advance fund, usually equal to 25–35% of the charter fee, allocated to cover operational expenses such as fuel, provisioning, marina fees, paid activities, beverages, and the guests’ personalized requests.

At the end of the cruise, the Captain provides a detailed breakdown of all expenditures. Any unused amount is refunded to the client, while any overages are settled directly upon closing the charter.

What are the payment terms?

Upon signing the contract, a payment of 50% of the total amount is required.
The balance — including APA, taxes, and any additional charges — is typically due around five weeks before embarkation (depending on the owner).
Payments are made via bank transfer, which is the standard method in the luxury charter industry.

Can I cancel a booking?

Yes, cancellations are possible, but the contractual terms apply.
In general, if the client decides to withdraw, the Owner retains the deposits already paid.

If the yacht is rebooked for the same period, the Owner refunds the amount recovered, minus the applicable commissions.

Every cancellation request is handled with full transparency.

How can I choose the yacht that best suits my needs?

The choice depends primarily on the type of experience you wish to enjoy:

  • Motor yacht for maximum comfort, excellent stability, and fast transfers.

  • Sailing yacht for an authentic, quiet experience rooted in traditional navigation.

  • Catamaran for generous spaces, superior stability, and enhanced privacy.

How far in advance should I book?

For peak season (Mediterranean: June–September; Caribbean: December–April), it is advisable to book several months in advance to secure the best available options.
We can also handle last-minute requests, depending on availability and licensing requirements.

Is it possible to personalise menus, preferences, and activities?

Absolutely. Before departure, you will receive a Preference Sheet where you can indicate your tastes, dietary needs, allergies, beverage preferences, and the activities you wish to enjoy.
The Chef and the Captain will use this information to create a fully customised experience for you.

How many guests can be accommodated on board?

Most yachts can host 6 to 12 guests, depending on their interior layout.
Some superyachts over 80 metres, compliant with international certifications, can accommodate up to 36 guests.

Will I have Internet access during the charter?

Most yachts offer Wi-Fi on board, provided through mobile networks or satellite systems. The quality and speed of the connection may vary depending on the cruising area and the technology installed.

Is tipping the crew expected?

Tipping is not mandatory, but it is a well-established custom to show appreciation for the crew’s service.
International guidelines suggest an amount equal to 10–15% of the base charter fee as a reference.
