SDA Bocconi School of Management: the inauguration of sailing team building in 2024
In 2024, the SDA Bocconi School of Management embarked on a new adventure, choosing the sea as the stage for its first sailing team building event. A pioneering initiative to strengthen group dynamics outside traditional classrooms.
With around 120 participants, this inaugural edition saw managers and future leaders board sailing boats. The goal was clear: to transform the challenges of sailing into valuable lessons in collaboration and leadership, an innovative approach to exploring new ways of interaction and problem-solving in a dynamic and unusual context.
The sailing boat environment immediately proved to be the ideal catalyst for cementing bonds. Away from established hierarchies and daily routines, each participant was called upon to actively contribute, communicate effectively, and trust their fellow crew members to navigate towards common goals. This allowed for the development of flexibility, adaptability, and quick decision-making skills – all essential competencies in the corporate world.
The days at sea were marked by moments of practical learning, where sail management, maneuvers, and orientation required constant teamwork.
