History and traditions

The airport, located in one of the most fascinating locations in Italy, has a history dating back to the 1920s. Originally built for military use, it experienced years of decline until its eventual closure. The reopening in July marks a return to its roots with a strong focus on innovation. Among the upgrades is an extended runway now measuring 2,000 meters, equipped with new lighting systems. A further extension to 2,200 meters is planned for 2025, along with the addition of new parking areas and improved accessibility.

Sustainability and environment

One of the key aspects of the renovation was the focus on environmental sustainability. Measures have been taken to reduce the ecological impact, such as the use of environmentally friendly materials and the implementation of renewable energy systems. The goal is to create an infrastructure that respects and protects the precious ecosystem of the Amalfi Coast.A new passenger terminal spanning 16,000 square meters is being built. According to Naples Airport, it will be a model of sustainability, incorporating photovoltaic systems to reduce COâ‚‚ emissions and using natural, sustainable materials throughout.
