After completing his high school education, Marin wasted no time pursuing his passion for the sea. Eager to gain hands-on experience in the maritime industry, he secured a position at a renowned company specializing in yacht construction. For six years, he immersed himself in vessel building, honing his skills and craftsmanship with dedication and precision. However, his true calling lay beyond shipyards and dry land. In search of a life on the open seas, he embarked on a new chapter of his career as part of the crew of Romanca. For the past five years, Marin has been the captain, leading his crew with confidence and expertise. Fluent in English, Marin ensures smooth communication with guests and crew alike. In his free time, Marin indulges his passions for his family, sport, and adventure. A skilled football player, he enjoys friendly matches with his crewmates whenever possible. For Marin, working on Romance isn’t just a job; it’s a way of life. He pours his heart and soul into the ship, dedicating countless hours to its maintenance and improvement. From fine-tuning the rigging to ensuring every detail is shipshape, Marin’s unwavering commitment to excellence shines through in every aspect of his work.

Ivan was born on 14 May 1993 in Split, where he grew up and graduated from Maritime High School. He worked in construction for a while, but after obtaining the necessary maritime licenses and certificates, he decidedly embarked on his career at sea. After working on supply ships for some time, he joined Romanca in 2017. Ivan brings a disciplined approach to every task. Whether on watch or navigation or transporting guests on a tender, clients can feel confident and secure knowing they are in capable hands. Its goal is to provide a pleasant and friendly time on the Gulet Romanca. He is also always willing to help and assist his colleagues. He speaks English fluently and spends most of his free time in sports activities and hiking.

Marin was born on March 20, 2004, in Split, where he attended Maritime High School. He also completed additional maritime courses and obtained other certifications. An interesting fact about him is that he likes to spend his free time hiking and is an expert on Dalmatian peaks. By moving into the boating industry, he was allowed to develop and sharpen his skills in seafaring and taking care of the safety of the ship and everyone on board. This is his first year working at Romanca, and he is a valuable team member; with motivation , he is always there to help with a big smile.

Mario was born in 1982 in the German town of Borken and completed his education in Split. After secondary vocational and technical school, he successfully graduated from the Polytechnic in Split, majoring in telecommunications. In the meantime, he additionally attended various courses and worked as an IT support (maintenance of computer equipment) to further improve his IT knowledge. For some time, he worked in hotels and restaurants as a waiter, and as a result, he became very successful in working with people by offering excellent service. He will do his best to make his guests feel comfortable during their vacation. He is excited to become a member of the Romanca team, and his colleagues describe him as kind, friendly, and a hard worker. Of foreign languages, he is best at English in foreign languages, and he likes to spend his free time playing tennis and, in the kitchen, trying out various gastronomic recipes.

How does the charter contract work?

The contract is signed directly between the Owner and the Charterer, with the support of the broker. It is usually based on the international MYBA contract model, designed to ensure clear and balanced protection for both parties.
There is also the figure of the Stakeholder, responsible for safely holding the funds until the end of the charter.

What is included in the charter fee?

The base rate includes the rental of the yacht, the use of all onboard equipment, the presence of the crew, and the related insurance coverage.
Operational expenses such as fuel, provisioning, marina fees, beverages, and additional activities are not included and are managed through the APA (Advance Provisioning Allowance).

The exact list of what is included or excluded will be confirmed when selecting the yacht.

What is the APA and how does it work?

The APA (Advance Provisioning Allowance) is an advance fund, usually equal to 25–35% of the charter fee, allocated to cover operational expenses such as fuel, provisioning, marina fees, paid activities, beverages, and the guests’ personalized requests.

At the end of the cruise, the Captain provides a detailed breakdown of all expenditures. Any unused amount is refunded to the client, while any overages are settled directly upon closing the charter.

What are the payment terms?

Upon signing the contract, a payment of 50% of the total amount is required.
The balance — including APA, taxes, and any additional charges — is typically due around five weeks before embarkation (depending on the owner).
Payments are made via bank transfer, which is the standard method in the luxury charter industry.

Can I cancel a booking?

Yes, cancellations are possible, but the contractual terms apply.
In general, if the client decides to withdraw, the Owner retains the deposits already paid.

If the yacht is rebooked for the same period, the Owner refunds the amount recovered, minus the applicable commissions.

Every cancellation request is handled with full transparency.

How can I choose the yacht that best suits my needs?

The choice depends primarily on the type of experience you wish to enjoy:

  • Motor yacht for maximum comfort, excellent stability, and fast transfers.

  • Sailing yacht for an authentic, quiet experience rooted in traditional navigation.

  • Catamaran for generous spaces, superior stability, and enhanced privacy.

How far in advance should I book?

For peak season (Mediterranean: June–September; Caribbean: December–April), it is advisable to book several months in advance to secure the best available options.
We can also handle last-minute requests, depending on availability and licensing requirements.

Is it possible to personalise menus, preferences, and activities?

Absolutely. Before departure, you will receive a Preference Sheet where you can indicate your tastes, dietary needs, allergies, beverage preferences, and the activities you wish to enjoy.
The Chef and the Captain will use this information to create a fully customised experience for you.

How many guests can be accommodated on board?

Most yachts can host 6 to 12 guests, depending on their interior layout.
Some superyachts over 80 metres, compliant with international certifications, can accommodate up to 36 guests.

Will I have Internet access during the charter?

Most yachts offer Wi-Fi on board, provided through mobile networks or satellite systems. The quality and speed of the connection may vary depending on the cruising area and the technology installed.

Is tipping the crew expected?

Tipping is not mandatory, but it is a well-established custom to show appreciation for the crew’s service.
International guidelines suggest an amount equal to 10–15% of the base charter fee as a reference.
