Greig grew up in Johannesburg South Africa on a farm out in Magaliesberg far north from the city. He spent most of his teenage years as a professional BMX rider and exploring on Enduro motorcycle’s through out Southern Africa.

Greig has a deep passion for hospitality and turned his focus to the yachting industry in 2015 on larger yachts such as 165 KANALOA and 210 KATHERINE.

Dedicated to climbing the ladder and absorbing more responsibility he spent all his spare time and money on courses and licensing which landed him his first drive in the Bahamas on 80 Hatteras, ISLAND COWBOY in 2019/2020 season. Greig has successfully run charter vessel in the Bahamas and Caribbean as well as up in New England going as far north as Nova Scotia.

Greig has been successfully running SWEET ESCAPEs busy charter for more then three months and his number one mission is to make memorable charters and create real moments and memories that last a lifetime.

He likes to spend his free time with his wife, exploring and teaching their two kids how to play the guitar, motocross and how to be curious about the world.

His motto in life is: "You never know how strong you are until being strong is your only option".

Mario's love for food began in the kitchen, where he discovered his passion for crafting unforgettable dishes. With boundless creativity and a relentless
pursuit of perfection, he soon became renowned in South Africa for his culinary expertise.

Mario founded two beloved dining establishments, however, it was his daring leap into the world of sustainable dining that set him apart. With
the launch of South Africa's first insect restaurant, Mario ignited a culinary revolution, challenging palates and perceptions with his innovative
approach to gastronomy.

Now, amidst the tranquil waters of the yachting industry, Mario brings his unique flair and passion for excellence to our charter guests. Every dish he
creates is a reflection of his commitment to culinary artistry and the joy of sharing unforgettable moments around the table. Mario will be sure to
elevate your experience onboard M/Y Sweet Escape!


Warren Deyes: Engineer

Warren was born in the port town of Durban, South Africa, where he developed a love for surfing and the ocean. Here, he also expanded his passion to spearfishing, fishing and water sports. Warren then got into photography and has a keen eye when it comes to taking the shot!

He joined the yachting industry in 2019 with his wife, “M” and since then they have traveled to many places, including the Caribbean, the Bahamas,
the entire east coast and parts of the west coast of the US, as well as British Columbia in Canada. They plan to continue traveling extensively!

Warren previously worked in the automotive manufacturing industry for 15 years, before transitioning to yachting. He has always loved working with
his hands and engineering has come naturally to him. Warren always looks forward to new adventures and opportunities in this exciting field of
yachting.


Kristin Stanford: Chief Stewardess

Kristin grew up sailing Hobie-cats and always knew that she wanted to join the yachting industry. Right after school, she hopped onto a plane to France
and climbed aboard the first sailing yacht she saw. Since then, she has done multiple Atlantic crossing and achieved her yacht master’s qualification.

Kristin had an opportunity to open her own café back in her hometown, Stellenbosch, which she ran for three years. After that, she decided to focus
more on the hospitality side of yachting and has now joined chartering motor yachts, which led her to M/Y Sweet Escape.

She enjoys spending time outdoors and doing anything active like running, kitesurfing, hiking, and most importantly, traveling. Kristin has so much love
for adventure and meeting amazing people along the way. She is excited to get to know all the guests and cater this experience to them - so that their trip is nothing short of extraordinary!


Meretha "M" Deyes: Second Stewardess

Meretha (AKA “M”) grew up in Hluhluwe, South Africa. A small farming town in Northern KZN. She loves farm-life and being outdoors, and often
spends her off-time walking or baking. She has a keen interest in understanding nutrition and health.

“M” joined the yachting industry in 2019 and since then, working on both private and charter vessels, has traveled extensively. Before she started her
yachting career, she acquired her Bachelor's degree in graphic design and worked as a junior designer for PlusNarrative, a South African based design
company.

Her love for the ocean and for traveling to new places then pushed her to make a career change. “M” now enjoys working in the yachting industry,
with her husband, Warren.


Johannes "Jay" Gideon Huisamen: Deckhand

Johannes Gideon Huisamen (AKA Jay) comes from the Northern part of Pretoria, South Africa. Jay spent his younger years modeling for brands back home and working in his Father’s business as a salesman.

Despite growing up inland all his life, Jay loves the ocean and with a little help from a friend, he decided to pack up his bags and enter the world of yachting! His first position in this industry led him straight to M/Y Sweet Escape. Here, he worked for six months as a temporary crew member.
His hard work, determination and his positive disposition set him apart, which then led him to secure a full time role onboard Sweet Escape,
making his dream come true! He has been onboard for over three years now and knows this vessel inside out.

Jay cannot wait to welcome you all aboard and make sure that everyone has the time of their lives on M/Y Sweet Escape!


Graham French: Deckhand

Graham was born and grew up in Johannesburg, South Africa. Graham has recently joined the yachting industry , in 2024. Taking a somewhat "sabbatical" from his Architecture career back home in South Africa.

Before pursuing Architecture he obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Communications and Management, followed by working 3 years in the Advertising
industry. Following that, he obtained an Advanced Diploma in Architectural Technology, and worked in the Architectural industry for 7 years.

Graham is passionate about art, design, construction, music and architecture. He also greatly enjoys being in nature and wildlife, being an avid hiker and
camper.

Graham shows great initiative with guests and will ensure an unforgettable stay onboard M/Y Sweet Escape.

Questions & Answers

How does the charter contract work?

The contract is signed directly between the Owner and the Charterer, with the support of the broker. It is usually based on the international MYBA contract model, designed to ensure clear and balanced protection for both parties.
There is also the figure of the Stakeholder, responsible for safely holding the funds until the end of the charter.

What is included in the charter fee?

The base rate includes the rental of the yacht, the use of all onboard equipment, the presence of the crew, and the related insurance coverage.
Operational expenses such as fuel, provisioning, marina fees, beverages, and additional activities are not included and are managed through the APA (Advance Provisioning Allowance).

The exact list of what is included or excluded will be confirmed when selecting the yacht.

What is the APA and how does it work?

The APA (Advance Provisioning Allowance) is an advance fund, usually equal to 25–35% of the charter fee, allocated to cover operational expenses such as fuel, provisioning, marina fees, paid activities, beverages, and the guests’ personalized requests.

At the end of the cruise, the Captain provides a detailed breakdown of all expenditures. Any unused amount is refunded to the client, while any overages are settled directly upon closing the charter.

What are the payment terms?

Upon signing the contract, a payment of 50% of the total amount is required.
The balance — including APA, taxes, and any additional charges — is typically due around five weeks before embarkation (depending on the owner).
Payments are made via bank transfer, which is the standard method in the luxury charter industry.

Can I cancel a booking?

Yes, cancellations are possible, but the contractual terms apply.
In general, if the client decides to withdraw, the Owner retains the deposits already paid.

If the yacht is rebooked for the same period, the Owner refunds the amount recovered, minus the applicable commissions.

Every cancellation request is handled with full transparency.

How can I choose the yacht that best suits my needs?

The choice depends primarily on the type of experience you wish to enjoy:

  • Motor yacht for maximum comfort, excellent stability, and fast transfers.

  • Sailing yacht for an authentic, quiet experience rooted in traditional navigation.

  • Catamaran for generous spaces, superior stability, and enhanced privacy.

How far in advance should I book?

For peak season (Mediterranean: June–September; Caribbean: December–April), it is advisable to book several months in advance to secure the best available options.
We can also handle last-minute requests, depending on availability and licensing requirements.

Is it possible to personalise menus, preferences, and activities?

Absolutely. Before departure, you will receive a Preference Sheet where you can indicate your tastes, dietary needs, allergies, beverage preferences, and the activities you wish to enjoy.
The Chef and the Captain will use this information to create a fully customised experience for you.

How many guests can be accommodated on board?

Most yachts can host 6 to 12 guests, depending on their interior layout.
Some superyachts over 80 metres, compliant with international certifications, can accommodate up to 36 guests.

Will I have Internet access during the charter?

Most yachts offer Wi-Fi on board, provided through mobile networks or satellite systems. The quality and speed of the connection may vary depending on the cruising area and the technology installed.

Is tipping the crew expected?

Tipping is not mandatory, but it is a well-established custom to show appreciation for the crew’s service.
International guidelines suggest an amount equal to 10–15% of the base charter fee as a reference.
