Captain: Yiannis Marathianos
Captain Yiannis is 61 years old, a Greek national. He holds a Captain’s A Class Diploma and numerous certificates such as Rescue and Fire Fighting, Certificate in Education Tanker safety, RR Passengers, GMDSS, ISPS code, Certificate Yachting Gnosis (verbal communication, conflict management, leadership, customer care, economic management, yacht maintenance) from HYCA and S. Niarchos Foundation, Bachelor of Professional Lifeguard etc . He has over 20 years’ experience on charter yachts i.e. Panther, Albacore, Albacore II, Bonito, Nitta V & Aurora. He joined Glaros in 2018. Captain Yiannis’s extensive knowledge of Mediterranean Sea is a valuable asset and ensures a successful charter. He is a professional captain with passion for his job and he has been awarded with the class A Navy Medal Award from the Ministry of Merchant Marine for rescuing people during the sink of “EXPRESS SAMINA” on September 26, 2000. He is married with two children; he speaks English and German and his hobby is winemaking.


Engineer: Stamatis Katsikanis
Stamatis was born in 1987 and he is a Greek national. He holds an Engineer’s A Class diploma and all the necessary certificates. He is a talented professional having more than 18 years’ experience at sea on all types of ships. He joined Glaros in 2025. Stamatis is the person whom the Captain and the crew completely trust and rely on for the smooth operation and repair of every part of the yacht. Stamatis speaks English and in his free time he enjoys travelling with his family, reading and swimming.


Chef: Ariel Salazar
Chef Ariel was born in 1973 in Philippines. At a very young age he discovered his passion for cooking and joined the yachting industry in 1993 as a steward and assistant cook on board Μ/Υ LYKTOS I and M/Y LYKTOS II.
When he arrived in Greece he received special training at Hotel Grande Bretagne and gained valuable experience next to the best Chefs. He has worked at various hotels and also on M/Y Kyknos before joining the team of M/Y Glaros in 2008.
Ariel is a competent Chef who can satisfy the most demanding clients. His dishes are delicious. He is well versed in Mediterranean and Asian cuisines as well as in Pastry. He speaks English and he enjoys fishing.


Chief Stewardess: Elena Golubnicha
Elena is 38 years old and she is from Ukraine. She has extensive experience in the hospitality industry as she has been working for more than 15 years in restaurants, hotels and yachts. During her career she has attended various seminars such as Housekeeping, Mixology and Silver Service. She joined M/Y Glaros’ team in 2019. Elena is a highly motivated and enthusiastic person with excellent communication skills. She is organized and responsible and will make sure that the guests will be pampered to the highest standards of service. She speaks fluent English, Russian and Greek. Elena enjoys travelling and cooking.


Stewardess: Eleni Dimitriou
Eleni was born in 1981 and she is a Greek national. She started her career working at various restaurants and hotels and in 2015 joined the yachting industry. In 2022 she became a member of Glaros’ team. She is a very polite person with positive attitude, always catering clients’ needs at all times. Eleni speaks English.


Bosun: Anastasios Katsimichas
Anastasios was born in 1982, a Greek national. He holds a speedboat license, an Able Seaman’s certificate and all the necessary certificates such as Personal Survival Techniques, Fire Prevention Fire Fighting, and Elementary First Aid etc. He has worked on various motor yachts such as M/Y Proton, M/Y Jester, M/Y Georgitta II, M/Y Sanjana and M/Y Pathos before joining Glaros in 2019. He is very hard working and friendly person. He speaks English, he is married with one child and he enjoys fishing.


Deckhand: Raoul Marcelino
Raoul is 46 years old, a Philippine national. He has more than 25 years’ experience on ocean going vessels and luxury yachts. He joined the previous yacht of the owner in 2006 and M/Y Glaros in 2008. He is a dedicated professional always happy to assist his team. Raoul speaks English and enjoys swimming.

Deckhand: Ryan Gavino
Ryan was born in 1979 and he is a Philippine national. He has been working in the yachting industry for the last 15 years. Before joining Glaros in 2024 he served onboard M/Y Ipanemas for 10 years. He speaks English and enjoys football and cinema.

How does the charter contract work?

The contract is signed directly between the Owner and the Charterer, with the support of the broker. It is usually based on the international MYBA contract model, designed to ensure clear and balanced protection for both parties.
There is also the figure of the Stakeholder, responsible for safely holding the funds until the end of the charter.

What is included in the charter fee?

The base rate includes the rental of the yacht, the use of all onboard equipment, the presence of the crew, and the related insurance coverage.
Operational expenses such as fuel, provisioning, marina fees, beverages, and additional activities are not included and are managed through the APA (Advance Provisioning Allowance).

The exact list of what is included or excluded will be confirmed when selecting the yacht.

What is the APA and how does it work?

The APA (Advance Provisioning Allowance) is an advance fund, usually equal to 25–35% of the charter fee, allocated to cover operational expenses such as fuel, provisioning, marina fees, paid activities, beverages, and the guests’ personalized requests.

At the end of the cruise, the Captain provides a detailed breakdown of all expenditures. Any unused amount is refunded to the client, while any overages are settled directly upon closing the charter.

What are the payment terms?

Upon signing the contract, a payment of 50% of the total amount is required.
The balance — including APA, taxes, and any additional charges — is typically due around five weeks before embarkation (depending on the owner).
Payments are made via bank transfer, which is the standard method in the luxury charter industry.

Can I cancel a booking?

Yes, cancellations are possible, but the contractual terms apply.
In general, if the client decides to withdraw, the Owner retains the deposits already paid.

If the yacht is rebooked for the same period, the Owner refunds the amount recovered, minus the applicable commissions.

Every cancellation request is handled with full transparency.

How can I choose the yacht that best suits my needs?

The choice depends primarily on the type of experience you wish to enjoy:

  • Motor yacht for maximum comfort, excellent stability, and fast transfers.

  • Sailing yacht for an authentic, quiet experience rooted in traditional navigation.

  • Catamaran for generous spaces, superior stability, and enhanced privacy.

How far in advance should I book?

For peak season (Mediterranean: June–September; Caribbean: December–April), it is advisable to book several months in advance to secure the best available options.

Is it possible to personalise menus, preferences, and activities?

Absolutely. Before departure, you will receive a Preference Sheet where you can indicate your tastes, dietary needs, allergies, beverage preferences, and the activities you wish to enjoy.
The Chef and the Captain will use this information to create a fully customised experience for you.

How many guests can be accommodated on board?

Most yachts can host 6 to 12 guests, depending on their interior layout.
Some superyachts over 80 metres, compliant with international certifications, can accommodate up to 36 guests.

Will I have Internet access during the charter?

Most yachts offer Wi-Fi on board, provided through mobile networks or satellite systems. The quality and speed of the connection may vary depending on the cruising area and the technology installed.

Is tipping the crew expected?

Tipping is not mandatory, but it is a well-established custom to show appreciation for the crew’s service.
International guidelines suggest an amount equal to 10–15% of the base charter fee as a reference.
