Sail on luxury yachts in this natural paradise at the border between Myanmar (Burma) and Thailand: you will be able to sail for days without meeting a soul. Imagine super white beaches surrounded by a lush jungle of palm and fruit trees. Savour the feeling of swimming in crystal clear waters among brightly-colored fishes of the coral reef while collecting shells. And now have a look around: the sun goes down over the sea, golden eagles fly in the sky and gibbons and monitor lizards begin to show up on the beach while you wait for your aperitif on the yacht. The Mergui Archipelago, in fact, is constituted by little islands, almost uninhabited. Open to foreign visitors only from the end of the 90s, it remains a place outside the paths of mass tourism, and therefore one of the most suggestive and uncontaminated travel destinations in the world. Sail to Myanmar!
DEPARTURE BASE | Kawthaung, Myanmar |
HOW TO ARRIVE |
All our 6 or 4-day cruises in the Mergui Archipelago depart from the city of Kawthaung in Southern Myanmar, right at the border with Thailand. It is pretty easy to arrive there, and you can choose among different travel options. Flying to Kawthaung: if you are already in Myanmar, you can fly directly to Kawthaung Airport, which is connected to various national airports and served by different local airlines. The most reliable and convenient is Myanmar Airways. Flying to Ranong: another option is to fly to Ranong Airport. There are daily flights from Bangkok National Airport, managed by the airline Nok Air. From Ranong, we will take a long keel boat to cross the Pakchan River, and thus reach Kawthaung on the Myanmar side. The crossing takes only a few minutes, and we will help you with the customs practices before getting on the boat. The airport is well-served by local taxi drivers, who can take you to the boarding point on the Pakchan river. Alternatively, we can welcome you directly at the airport. Arriving from Phuket: Phuket International Airport represents a good and convenient starting point to fly to Kawthaung. It is also possible to venture on a suggestive car trip to Ranong (4 hours), which is located at the border with Thailand, and reach Kawthaung by crossing the Pakchan River. |
