With a background as a diesel mechanic, he began as a yacht engineer and gradually worked his way up to become a captain in 2006.He has extensive cruising experience, sailing the Bahamas, Eastern and Western Caribbean, South and Central America, Mexico, and Alaska—where he spent three summer seasons exploring Southeast Alaska. Stephan has also travelled widely throughout Africa and Europe. His hobbies include blue water fishing, rugby, golf, and hunting, reflecting his love for the outdoors and adventure. With his strong technical skills and leadership, guests aboard M/Y Eros can feel confident they’re in very capable hands under Captain Stephan.

CHIEF STEWARDESS- IRENE ROODT- SOUTH AFRICAN
Originally from Cape Town, South Africa, Irene is the kind of person who brings warmth, energy, and a whole lot of experience to every charter. She’s spent the last few years working on yachts around the world, most recently as Chief Stewardess on the 49m *Hanse Explorer*, where she led the interior team and made sure every guest felt completely at home. Before yachting, Irene ran her own business and worked in hospitality and admin, so she knows how to keep things running smoothly and with a smile. She’s passionate about diving, food, music, and exploring new places, and she’s always up for a challenge or a good laugh.

Guests love her attention to detail and easygoing vibe, and crew love working with her. She’s a true team player who knows how to make life onboard feel like a five-star experience.

Originally from South Africa, Carmen brings a vibrant blend of hospitality expertise and adventurous spirit to the yachting world. With a degree in Hospitality Management and a rich background in luxury service—from boutique hotels to high-end lodges—she transitioned into yachting in 2020 and quickly built a reputation for excellence across vessels ranging from 40m to 56m.

Known for her meticulous attention to detail and warm guest interactions, Carmen thrives in dynamic charter environments, ensuring every experience is seamless and memorable. When she’s not onboard, she’s likely practicing yoga, exploring the outdoors, or riding motorcycles through scenic landscapes. Her passion for travel and personal growth makes her a valued crew member and a joy to have on board.

CHEF- JITZE ESTERHUIZEN- SOUTH AFRICAN
Jitze is a 34-year-old South African chef with a calm, creative vibe and a serious passion for crafting high-end cuisine that’s tailored to every guest and crew member. Whether it’s a six-course dinner or a beach BBQ, he brings flavor, finesse, and flexibility to the table—literally. He’s worked on some impressive yachts, including the 86m S/Y Aquijo, 80m M/Y Rocinante, and most recently as sole chef on the 37m M/Y Inspiration in the Bahamas. From crew meals with dietary restrictions to multi-course guest menus, Jitze knows how to keep everyone happy and well-fed. His cooking style spans Asian, Mediterranean, Latin American, Eastern European, and more—including vegan, keto, halaal, and kosher options. Off-duty, he’s laid-back and easy to work with, making him a favorite among crew and guests alike.

MATE- MARQUIN GROVES- SOUTH AFRICAN
Originally from South Africa, Marquin brings a decade of hands-on yachting experience to the deck. With a strong background in both charter and private vessels ranging from 28m to 64m, he’s known for his leadership, precision, and passion for the sea. From managing deck teams and navigating thousands of nautical miles to mastering water toys and tender operations, Marquin thrives in dynamic environments and always keeps the yacht charter ready.

Beyond the helm, Marquin is an avid videographer and photographer, capturing stunning moments with drones, GoPros, and cameras. His enthusiasm, work ethic, and adventurous spirit make him a valued crew member and a favorite among guests.

DECKHAND- ANDRE ENGELBRECHT- SOUTH AFRICAN
Andre, from South Africa, is a hardworking deckhand with hands-on experience across yachts up to 58m. With a strong background in yacht maintenance, docking, and exterior care, as well as skills as a qualified electrician, he brings both reliability and technical know-how to every charter. His career spans shipyard work in Fort Lauderdale, France, Italy, Palma, and South Africa, where he honed his skills in washdowns, polishing, mechanical assistance, and tender operations.

When he’s not on deck, Andre loves diving, surfing, fishing, and exploring the outdoors—always ready to bring his adventurous spirit and positive energy onboard.

ENGINEER- JUSTIN SHEPARD- SOUTH AFRICAN
Justin is originally from South Africa, he is an experienced Marine Engineer with 19 years of hands-on experience working across a wide range of vessels, from small crafts to larger ships. Now living in the United States for the past few years, he brings a global perspective and a wealth of technical knowledge to every project. Known for his strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills, he approaches challenges with a practical mindset and a calm-focused attitude. Adaptable and composed under pressure, he has a proven track record of maintaining smooth, safe operations in diverse and demanding environments. Outside of his professional life, he enjoys golfing, fishing, and watching rugby with friends—interests that keep him grounded and offer balance to a dynamic and often high-pressure career.

Accommodation: EROS features a Main Deck Master Stateroom with an ensuite, and also with a seating/ office area. Below deck you can find 4 other staterooms. Forward port stateroom is a fixed queen, and forward starboard is a fixed twin stateroom. Aft there are 2 more staterooms that are convertible from a queen into two twin beds or vice versa.

How does the charter contract work?

The contract is signed directly between the Owner and the Charterer, with the support of the broker. It is usually based on the international MYBA contract model, designed to ensure clear and balanced protection for both parties.
There is also the figure of the Stakeholder, responsible for safely holding the funds until the end of the charter.

What is included in the charter fee?

The base rate includes the rental of the yacht, the use of all onboard equipment, the presence of the crew, and the related insurance coverage.
Operational expenses such as fuel, provisioning, marina fees, beverages, and additional activities are not included and are managed through the APA (Advance Provisioning Allowance).

The exact list of what is included or excluded will be confirmed when selecting the yacht.

What is the APA and how does it work?

The APA (Advance Provisioning Allowance) is an advance fund, usually equal to 25–35% of the charter fee, allocated to cover operational expenses such as fuel, provisioning, marina fees, paid activities, beverages, and the guests’ personalized requests.

At the end of the cruise, the Captain provides a detailed breakdown of all expenditures. Any unused amount is refunded to the client, while any overages are settled directly upon closing the charter.

What are the payment terms?

Upon signing the contract, a payment of 50% of the total amount is required.
The balance — including APA, taxes, and any additional charges — is typically due around five weeks before embarkation (depending on the owner).
Payments are made via bank transfer, which is the standard method in the luxury charter industry.

Can I cancel a booking?

Yes, cancellations are possible, but the contractual terms apply.
In general, if the client decides to withdraw, the Owner retains the deposits already paid.

If the yacht is rebooked for the same period, the Owner refunds the amount recovered, minus the applicable commissions.

Every cancellation request is handled with full transparency.

How can I choose the yacht that best suits my needs?

The choice depends primarily on the type of experience you wish to enjoy:

  • Motor yacht for maximum comfort, excellent stability, and fast transfers.

  • Sailing yacht for an authentic, quiet experience rooted in traditional navigation.

  • Catamaran for generous spaces, superior stability, and enhanced privacy.

How far in advance should I book?

For peak season (Mediterranean: June–September; Caribbean: December–April), it is advisable to book several months in advance to secure the best available options.
We can also handle last-minute requests, depending on availability and licensing requirements.

Is it possible to personalise menus, preferences, and activities?

Absolutely. Before departure, you will receive a Preference Sheet where you can indicate your tastes, dietary needs, allergies, beverage preferences, and the activities you wish to enjoy.
The Chef and the Captain will use this information to create a fully customised experience for you.

How many guests can be accommodated on board?

Most yachts can host 6 to 12 guests, depending on their interior layout.
Some superyachts over 80 metres, compliant with international certifications, can accommodate up to 36 guests.

Will I have Internet access during the charter?

Most yachts offer Wi-Fi on board, provided through mobile networks or satellite systems. The quality and speed of the connection may vary depending on the cruising area and the technology installed.

Is tipping the crew expected?

Tipping is not mandatory, but it is a well-established custom to show appreciation for the crew’s service.
International guidelines suggest an amount equal to 10–15% of the base charter fee as a reference.
