Manuel is a seasoned captain with over a decade of maritime experience, including multiple transatlantic crossings and extensive project management in refits. Since 2021, he has captained the CNB66 SKIP’N BOU II, overseeing its delivery from the shipyard and managing both owner and charter operations in the Mediterranean. Prior to that, he captained several CNB66 yachts, including MAMYWATA and MIDNIGHT, where he led significant refit work. From 2014 to 2019, he served as Second Captain aboard the SWS80 SKIP'N BOU, sailing seasons between the Mediterranean and the West Indies and completing six Atlantic crossings. He also brings technical proficiency from his background as a wood carpenter, which supports his hands-on approach to yacht maintenance and repair.

As Captain of KALLIMA, Manuel is responsible for the safe navigation, operation, and overall management of the yacht. He ensures all aspects of the vessel's performance, including safety, crew leadership, and guest experience, are delivered at the highest standard. He oversees compliance with maritime regulations, maintenance schedules, and coordinates refits and logistics, ensuring KALLIMA is maintained in peak condition for both private and charter use. He began gaining maritime experience in 2022 as Chief Mate aboard the classic 125ft sailing yacht AELLO in Greece, where he returned in 2023 for refit operations and again in 2024, this time taking command as Captain. These roles reflect a rapid progression and deepening competence in sailing operations, particularly on traditionally rigged, large classic yachts. His background also includes volunteer teaching and work as an energy expert, which highlights his organizational skills and adaptability.

Job Description
As deckhand aboard KALLIMA, Xavier contributes to all aspects of deck operations, including maintenance, sailing maneuvers, and support for guest services. Drawing on his experience as both Chief Mate and Captain, he brings a high level of professionalism, safety awareness, and hands-on skill with both day-to-day yacht handling and longer passages. His calm demeanor and multilingual abilities make him a strong communicator and effective team member.

Bertille Dibatista – Stewardess & Chef – French

Sail and Work Experience
Bertille has been actively working in the yachting industry since 2021, transitioning from a long career as an optician. She has served as chef, hostess, and deckhand across various charters and vessels, including CNB 76 and HANSE 588 in the Mediterranean, as well as on board a Lagoon 560 and a Lagoon 460 in the Caribbean. Over the years she has gained valuable experience in meal preparation and service as well as boat maintenance. She notably participated in the Juris’cup regatta aboard a Swan 65, serving 11 crew members. Bertille demonstrates adaptability and enthusiasm, making her a valued member of any crew.

Job Description
Bertille is responsible for all culinary and interior operations on board. She creates diverse, fresh, and seasonal menus tailored to guest preferences and dietary requirements, manages provisioning, and ensures the galley is run efficiently and hygienically. In addition to her culinary role, she maintains the cleanliness and presentation of the interior, ensuring guest comfort and satisfaction. Her cuisine reflects her creativity, professionalism, and love for quality ingredients, while her attention to detail and warm hospitality enhance the overall guest experience.

Questions & Answers

How does the charter contract work?

The contract is signed directly between the Owner and the Charterer, with the support of the broker. It is usually based on the international MYBA contract model, designed to ensure clear and balanced protection for both parties.
There is also the figure of the Stakeholder, responsible for safely holding the funds until the end of the charter.

What is included in the charter fee?

The base rate includes the rental of the yacht, the use of all onboard equipment, the presence of the crew, and the related insurance coverage.
Operational expenses such as fuel, provisioning, marina fees, beverages, and additional activities are not included and are managed through the APA (Advance Provisioning Allowance).

The exact list of what is included or excluded will be confirmed when selecting the yacht.

What is the APA and how does it work?

The APA (Advance Provisioning Allowance) is an advance fund, usually equal to 25–35% of the charter fee, allocated to cover operational expenses such as fuel, provisioning, marina fees, paid activities, beverages, and the guests’ personalized requests.

At the end of the cruise, the Captain provides a detailed breakdown of all expenditures. Any unused amount is refunded to the client, while any overages are settled directly upon closing the charter.

What are the payment terms?

Upon signing the contract, a payment of 50% of the total amount is required.
The balance — including APA, taxes, and any additional charges — is typically due around five weeks before embarkation (depending on the owner).
Payments are made via bank transfer, which is the standard method in the luxury charter industry.

Can I cancel a booking?

Yes, cancellations are possible, but the contractual terms apply.
In general, if the client decides to withdraw, the Owner retains the deposits already paid.

If the yacht is rebooked for the same period, the Owner refunds the amount recovered, minus the applicable commissions.

Every cancellation request is handled with full transparency.

How can I choose the yacht that best suits my needs?

The choice depends primarily on the type of experience you wish to enjoy:

  • Motor yacht for maximum comfort, excellent stability, and fast transfers.

  • Sailing yacht for an authentic, quiet experience rooted in traditional navigation.

  • Catamaran for generous spaces, superior stability, and enhanced privacy.

How far in advance should I book?

For peak season (Mediterranean: June–September; Caribbean: December–April), it is advisable to book several months in advance to secure the best available options.

Is it possible to personalise menus, preferences, and activities?

Absolutely. Before departure, you will receive a Preference Sheet where you can indicate your tastes, dietary needs, allergies, beverage preferences, and the activities you wish to enjoy.
The Chef and the Captain will use this information to create a fully customised experience for you.

How many guests can be accommodated on board?

Most yachts can host 6 to 12 guests, depending on their interior layout.
Some superyachts over 80 metres, compliant with international certifications, can accommodate up to 36 guests.

Will I have Internet access during the charter?

Most yachts offer Wi-Fi on board, provided through mobile networks or satellite systems. The quality and speed of the connection may vary depending on the cruising area and the technology installed.

Is tipping the crew expected?

Tipping is not mandatory, but it is a well-established custom to show appreciation for the crew’s service.
International guidelines suggest an amount equal to 10–15% of the base charter fee as a reference.
